Moerbeke-Waas Station Building

Former station of Moerbeke-Waas, replacing the old station at the beginning of the street (now gone), established in 1910 in the axis of the straight beginning of the street. Since 1866, the departure point for three railway lines: via Daknam to Lokeren, via Wachtebeke to Zelzate, and via Klein-Sinaai to Stekene. Small rural station building of one story under intersecting gable roofs (tiles), one with a hipped end. Red brick façades on a granite plinth with wide bands and connected architraves of yellow brick. Symmetrically arranged front façade consisting of two window bays on either side of the projecting porch risalit with a raised gable featuring a round-arched attic window. Wing door with triangular pediment in a blue-painted frame, set in the middle of a large glazed round arch. Furthermore, mainly arched wall openings. Blue-painted friezes with the inscription "Moerbeke-Waas". Eaves with whitened cut wooden roof edge and cornice. VAN WILDERODE A., Moerbeke-Waas then and now, Beveren, 1982, p. 75-76
