Saint Rochu's Chapel

Devotional chapel of Saint Roch, patron of the plague sufferers, with circumnavigation on August 16. The veneration of the plague saint in the municipality would go back to the 16th century and presumably also the existence of the chapel. Traditionally located on the so-called "Kapellenberg" opposite the intersection Wettersesteenweg and next to the café "De oude Bareel". Chapel newly built in 1628, rebuilt again in 1814; restored in 1928 and in 1957, retaining its original character. Anchored and whitewashed brick chapel with gable roof (slates, ridge parallel to the street). Front gable with low, basket-arched sandstone gate with quarter hollow profile. In the top: round-arched façade with a profiled frame on leak threshold. Polychrome statue of Saint Roch from the 19th century. Rectangular facing stone with painted pane with the following inscription: "1628 / HERBOUT. 1814". Anchored side façade with a barred rectangular window under the profiled plastered roof molding.
