Description

Villa, so-called "'t Eiland" cf. inscription, commissioned by Kinders Debaillie on behalf of J. De Bruycker (Roeselare) from 1940. Enclosed grounds, on Astridlaan and Koolskampstraat surrounded by a low red brick wall topped with partially renewed fencing; renewed metal gates. Landscaped garden with pergola, pavilion, and pond on behalf of garden architect A. Rousseau (Roeselare) featuring rock formations with a basement garden house and waterfall commissioned by J. De Bruycker; at the corner of Astridlaan/Koolskampstraat a vegetable garden with a grape greenhouse, bordered by trained trees. To the west, a garage and laundry house. To the south of the dwelling, remnants of an earthen wall and orchard, as well as small sheds.
