So-called "The Four Winds", former home and studio of artist Constant Permeke (Antwerp, 1886-Ostend, 1952). The house was built in 1929-30 according to a concept by the artist himself, which was converted into building plans by architect Pierre Vandervoort (Nieuwpoort). The house was perfectly oriented to the cardinal directions, which explains the name of the house.
