This water castle from the 14th century is one of the most beautiful in Flanders. As early as 1300, Cleydael was known and owned by the Sanders family. Subsequently, many other owners followed. The Spanish family Del Rio was also the owner of this estate for a while. The castle itself is completely surrounded by water coming from the Struisbeek. Until the 16th century, one could navigate this stream all the way from the Scheldt. A golf club has been established on the estate itself. In one of the 14th-century outbuildings, you will find a restaurant. Currently, the castle is privately owned and is not open to the public.
