Z.no. Former Town Hall from 1921. Before W.W. I: the municipal council meetings take place in the inn. Town Hall. on the Village Street. 1921: construction of a town hall as a dominant building at the newly formed J. Dewindeplaats, commissioned by municipal architect A. Dugardyn (Bruges), in a regionalist interpretation of traditional brick architecture. 1974-1976: restoration of facades and roofing commissioned by architect J. Decreus (Poperinge), closing the bell tower openings of the roof turret. 1977 (municipal mergers): conversion into a Cultural Center. Detached double house with seven bays and two stories above the basement. Yellow brick construction; slightly curved slate gable roof, dormers, and versatile roof turret. Adjacent low concierge (l.) and former fire station (r.). At the rear, a right-angled extension of the former fire station, the concierge, and centrally, the higher staircase hall. Regionalist interpretation of traditional brick architecture cf. gable and stepped fronts with chimney bays and corner finials, staircase with railing and segmental arched window registers including the side. However, the addition of a segmental arched portal in a white stone frame. Prominent wooden cross windows with small panes and shuttered lower sections; partially glazed wing door with bars. The preserved interior elements are mainly limited to the layout: central corridor with a staircase, flanked by meeting rooms with preserved natural stone fireplace walls and mantels, in a stylized late Gothic pattern with depictions of shields on the frieze.
