Papermill de Meurs is located in Neerdorp, a small hamlet near Huizingen on the lower reaches of the Molenbeek. This factory has grown out of a paper watermill which in turn originated from a grain watermill. It is at the same time the last preserved example of an industrial paper factory in the region south of Brussels, which has traditionally been characterized by the significant water-based paper production. For at least 450 years, paper has been produced here uninterruptedly. The factory buildings that still exist today date from the period 1892-1907.
