From time to time, joggers see a light burning in the tower. That is the spirit of Stromberg, if you know the legend of the Minnewater. The story of the spirit of Stromberg is connected to a tragic love story from Bruges. Minna, a fisherman's daughter, was in love with the farmer Stromberg, but her father disapproved of their relationship. When Stromberg had to go to war, her father forced her to marry someone else. Minna fled and ultimately died in Stromberg's arms. Out of sorrow, he built a dam to bury her in a drained riverbed and named the place "Minnewater" in tribute to his beloved.
