Beverhoutsveld Chapel

So-called "Beverhoutsveld Chapel". Devotional chapel in honour of Mary planted on a hedged corner plot near the Veldkapellestraat. The exact date of construction is not known, but must certainly be placed before 1830. Accessible chapel with rectangular floor plan and a three-sided apse. Building built in red brick anchored under a gable roof merging into a hipped roof (at the level of the choir) covered with grey natural slate. Bell tower with constricted naal spire and crowning wrought iron cross. Almost blind façade conceived as a gable. Centrally equipped with a pointed arch door with chamfered reveals, flanked by two pointed arched blind niches. The gable has a three-sided blind oculus. The side walls are openwork with pointed arched windows connected by a brick cornice. Renewed joinery. The three-sided choir has pointed arched blind niches. Interior. Brown floor tiles, plastered walls and ceiling. Pointed arch vault with tie rods. Against the back wall a wooden altar consisting of two levels: on the lower step flowers and candlesticks, on the top step a polychrome statue of the Virgin Mary in a neo-Gothic niche. Accompanying picnic area and flower bed laid out with traditional Marian plants such as Our Lady's bedstraw, lady's mantle, periwinkle and lily of the valley. Since 2002 there has also been a demonstration site for small landscape elements. Presence of a pond and a bird grove.
