With its 9 hectares of parkland, the Verviers cemetery is a veritable museum of stone. Through an itinerary of about 3 km and more than 40 out-of-the-ordinary funeral monuments, you will explore the history of the town of Verviers, which abounds in heritage and incredible characters! Among the sites that are worth a look are the impressive 56-vault mausoleum of the Biolley family, who reigned over the town for more than a century, and the crypt of the other major industrial family in Verviers, the Simonis. Also stop in front of the burial place of Henri Vieuxtemps, a violinist and composer, Edouard Deru, violin teacher to Queen Elisabeth, or that of Pierre Fluche, the hero of the worker’s struggle. A real leap into the past of the town of wool!
