Fonds De Quarreux

Les Fonds de Quarreux.
An outstanding natural site, the Amblève boasts a somewhat magical location, named the Fonds de Quarreux. A 1.5 km walk along the river will reveal these mysterious rounded rocks to you. Legend has it that these quartzite stones with opalescent veins are the vestiges of a mill meant to have been built by the devil for a miller who had promised him his soul. This miller was saved by his wife, who stopped the mill from turning. Furious, the devil destroyed the mill and killed the poor woman. It is said that if you listen out, the old man’s tears can still be heard in this fantastical place. Fans of legends, nature enthusiasts or those who enjoy walks dotted with climbing opportunities are invited by the Fonds de Quarreux to take a journey through time and the imagination!
