Cascade De Coo

Description

The Coo waterfall.
Do you know the origin of Belgium’s most voluminous natural waterfall? In the 15th century, the monks of Stavelot Abbey are reputed to have diverted a meander of the Amblève in order to supply a mill. And as it overflowed, the water is said to have spread across the neighbouring rocks... In 1955, an amusement park was set up at the foot of the waterfall. In perfect harmony with nature, it has constantly evolved to become Plopsa Coo today. The chairlift is still one of Coo’s most attractive activities, along with kayaking. Finally, the hydro-electric power station is a strong economic link in the regional chain: it is an energy accumulation station via nocturnal pumping and is unique in Belgium.
