Do you know how your grandmothers and great-grandmothers did the laundry? Why they did it just once a year? What products they used? What’s the ancestor of the iron? Answers can be found at the museum of laundry, a museum entirely devoted to the evolution of linen-washing techniques, from Antiquity to the present day. Visitors can admire old laundry machines that are still in working order, a recreated washtub, discover ironing methods, the history of soap, and more... In Spa, one of the world’s most famous cities with thermal waters, women earned their living by cleaning linen from the hotels accommodating guests taking the waters from the 18th century. So it’s no surprise that here we find this museum that's unique in Belgium, and where your tour will be packed with surprises!
