On the night of 25 to 26 August 1830, an uprising erupted in Brussels after the screening of 'The Mute of Portici' in the Théâtre de la Monnaie. Two months later, the first Belgian city council was elected in Borsbeek. However, the governor broke off that election because it had been rather turbulent. After another election in March 1831, Van Tichelen became mayor. Since the elected representatives did not yet have a town hall, they met the next day 'in the inn of the De Vos children' to elect a secretary.
In the municipal report of September 1842 it is stated that the municipality had rented a room in De Valk from Joannes Baptiste Verbiest, farmer, and that it had been rented by the municipality to serve to carry out the affairs of the municipality and to preserve the archives. From January 1, 1843, the room will be used entirely and exclusively by the municipal administration with the rent of 35 francs. It was therefore a first step towards its own 'town hall'. Not far from here is Fort 3.
