The Iron Road is a kilometer-long bike path between Halen and Geetbets. In the spring of 1878, the first train ran on this route between Tienen and Diest, with a branch line to Sint-Truiden in Drieslinter. Not even a century later, in 1966, a freight train last ran through this landscape; passenger trains had already been discontinued in 1957.
