A large part of the buildings of the Beringen mine has been preserved. One of them houses the Flemish Mining Museum. There, the story of hard work in the Limburg underground is told. Prior to the museum visit, you can watch a welcome film about the social impact of the mining industry. In the museum, you are informed in an engaging way about the formation of coal and mining operations. Enthusiastic former miners guide visitors and share stories about all aspects of hard mining work. A reconstructed mine tunnel gives a realistic image of the underground. A model evokes, with sound and light, the activities above ground. There is also an opportunity to visit the other mine buildings and installations: the bathing hall, the lamp room, the sorting room, and the headframe. The mine site is open for individual visitors on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Closed on holidays.
