Otegem is a village in the southeast of West Flanders and a sub-municipality of Zwevegem. It was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977. Otegem remained a rural municipality despite the merger. Administratively and judicially, the municipality belongs to the district of "Kortrijk". Since 1977, it has formed together with "Heestert", "Moen", "Sint-Denijs", and "Zwevegem" the merged municipality of Zwevegem. Otegem is described as an agricultural and residential village where the soil consists of clay, sandy loam, and sandy grounds.
