The Grootbroek is a 50 ha large marshy nature reserve that recently came into the hands of the Flemish Region. At its center lies a 30 ha large pond, which, just like the one in Pécrot, served as a fish pond in the Middle Ages. The absolute silence provides an ideal habitat for waterfowl. The beaver, which has been back in our country since 2000, also finds a home here. An elongated land tongue, which extends into the pond, divides it almost in two.
