It has proved impossible to determine the date of construction of the Hof van Boechout. In 1440 it was owned by knight Hendrik van Immerseel, after whom the castle is sometimes still named. In 1583 the castle was destroyed by the Reformed, who waged war against Cardinal Granvelle, the then Lord of Boechout.
Rebuilt under the name "Vredeborch" it became the residence of the lords of Boechout since 1662.
In 1806 Jan Moretus married Maria Carolina van Colen, sister of Karel-Servaas van Colen, the then lord of Boechout, who founded the Boechout Harmonie. After the death of Charles-Servatius, the castle passed into the hands of the Moretus family, who still own it today.
Of course, the castle, surrounding parks and avenues underwent numerous changes and were adapted by the respective inhabitants to the fashion of the time. The last restoration took place in 1937, to its pre-1810 state.
The gate and the enclosure date from the 15th century. Until 1805, the castle also had a drawbridge.
Listed as a monument in 1977.
