The Bathio ferry is a self-service ferry that was put into operation in 2001. The name refers to the old spelling of Bachte-Maria-Leerne in the year 820 AD, where there has always been a ferry service. During the religious wars in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, even soldiers were responsible for the security of the crossing. Nearby are Vosselareput, a public swimming area, and a nature reserve next to the Rekkelingebeek.
