The current St. Michael's Church is a modern hall church, the first stone of which was consecrated on October 12, 1968. The Brussels architects Desmedt and Lateir designed a spacious prayer area with 750 seats. The interior is sober. Glass areas provide a soft light. This St. Michael's Church was inaugurated in March 1970. The dragon slayer Saint Michael is omnipresent here: against the outer façade we see him in an aluminum sculpture by art craftsman-sculptor Willy Ceysens. The baptismal font, the reading area with image of Saint Michael and the lamp of God are by artist Willy Cleyssens. We also see Michiel in a sculpture behind glass.
At the front is the beautiful organ that was made around 1777 by the renowned organ builder Pieter Van
Peteghem. The organ in Keerbergen has a graceful typical rococo cabinet made of oak. The organ was originally built as a balustrade organ; The cabinet was built into the balustrade of the rood screen. The fact that we can still admire this organ is the merit of awake people from the local local community. They managed to save the artwork from destruction during the demolition works of the old church in 1970-1972. Before we leave the church, we look at the Stations of the Cross by Gust Dierickx. In fifteen painted panels we see the fourteen Stations of the Cross and the Resurrection of Christ.
