At the entrance of the museum stands a beautiful model that depicts the situation of the battlefield on the morning of June 18, 1815.
Piet Prinsen, the model maker who realized this masterpiece, took thirty years to build this work of art, in which all buildings and roads, as well as the rolling landscape, are depicted accurately. The model, covering more than 30m2, at a scale of 1:72, includes over 10,000 soldiers from various countries.
Mr. and Mrs. Prinsen have always cherished the desire that this lifelong work would one day be displayed on the battlefield of Waterloo. Since July 7, 2020, that wish has become a reality.
