The Sonian Forest railway was a railway line between 1902 and 1920. It has since disappeared, leaving only an isolated hangar in the middle of the woods. This building was restored in 2003 and serves as storage area for foresters, and its roof has been modified to accommodate bats.
This 2.5 km long line linked Petite-Espinette (Uccle) to the top of the Tournay-Solvay park (Boitsfort) where it joined the Brussels - Namur - Luxembourg rail line (still existing). It followed in particular the ridge line passing in front of the Neolithic site of the two tumuli.
After the First World War, it was abandoned for reasons of profitability. This railroad transported stone material for forest roads, and was also used to transport wood.
