On August 7, 1900, Jules Goffinet, a mining engineer, company administrator, and former consul in Madrid, husband of Anna Quairier, daughter of Joseph, director at the Société générale de Belgique, purchased from Baron Ludovic Moncheur a domain of 179 hectares 58 ares 80 centiares in Reux. Designated under the Ancien Régime as the fief of Ferage in Reux-en-Famenne, the estate belonged to the municipality of Ciney. It had previously belonged to Anne de Coppin, lady of Vecmont, former canoness of Moustier, wife of Baron Louis de Doetinghem, a major in the service of Austria, before passing to her daughter Caroline de Doetinghem, wife of Louis Bauchau, and then to their daughter Louisa, wife of Baron François Moncheur, a member of the House of Representatives, Minister of Public Works, relatives of Baron Ludovic Moncheur.
