The Hautes-Fagnes scientific station is a field research station of the University of Liège, located on the plateau of the High Fens, at Mont Rigi in the municipality of Robertville, Belgium, since 1924.La first station of the University of Liège on the plateau of the High Fens was founded in 1924 on the initiative of Professor Léon Fredericq; This station was destroyed during the Second World War by the Germans, from 10 May 1940, then during the winter of 1944-1945 by the Americans during the Ardennes offensive. A new building, still made of wood, was rebuilt in 1947 by the team of Professor Raymond Bouillenne, with materials from pavilions abandoned in the Fens by the American army. In 1963, the University of Liège decided to build a new permanent building; The construction work, which began in 1972, was completed in 1975 and the old wooden building was demolished.
