Centrale Langerlo is a thermal power plant on the Albert Canal in the Port of Genk. Since April 2017, it has been bankrupt and the furnace has been shut down. This marked the disappearance of the last coal-fired power plant in Belgium.
The total capacity of the plant was 556 MWe, mostly generated by two steam turbines powered by coal and biomass. Two cooling towers and three red-and-white chimneys dominate the site.
