Lose yourself in a Flemish village, amidst the church of St. Peter and St. Guy and many other old buildings. The historic heart of Anderlecht still feels like the small farming village it once was.
St. Guy, the patron saint of Anderlecht, continues to play an important part in village life. Indeed, the traditional procession of Saint Guy and the annual market are still held in his honour. Close to the church you will also find the picturesque Porseleinstraat (Rue Porselein), Anderlecht’s Beguinage and the house of Erasmus with its garden.
Something remarkable in this historic setting is the bike shed, a work of art by Wim Delvoye from 2002. The row of bronze ducks on the little wall are symbolic of vulnerable road users as well as extensive congestion.
