The Néviau (or Dave) rocks are located on the right bank of the Meuse, a little upstream from the city of Namur. They consist of a succession of rocky cliffs facing generally southwest and reaching a height of up to 70 meters. The rock is primarily dolomitic in nature. It has been a site used for climbing for a very long time and is managed by the Belgian Alpine Club. In addition to its obvious landscape aspect, these outcrops feature remarkable habitats, such as the rocky grassland with pale fescue (Festuca pallens) and the calcicole xerophytic grassland with blue sesleria (Sesleria caerulea), and present significant biological interest. The abundance of elms is favorable for the presence of several specialized organisms like the elm bark beetle (Anthaxia manca) and the elm hairstreak (Satyrium w-album).
Public access: Located along the N947 road, the site is easily accessible from Namur.
Type: Site of Great Biological Interest (SGIB)
