The Thier Bosset is located on the left bank of the Amblève, overlooking the small town of Aywaille from an altitude of 200 meters. Belonging to the limestone Famenne (also known as "Calestienne"), this hill rests on Frasnian limestones that outcrop in various places. Much less prestigious than the Heid des Gattes, which faces it on the opposite slope of the valley, the site, mostly forested, nonetheless presents various interesting aspects, particularly in terms of biodiversity. Sensitive habitats are present, including calcareous grasslands and thermophilic fringes rich in shrubs such as the sweet cherry (Prunus mahaleb) and the service tree (Sorbus aria). Recognized as a site of biological interest within Aywaille's municipal nature development plan, the most remarkable habitats of Thier Bosset are managed by Ardenne & Gaume, a very active association in the protection of regional natural heritage.
