This site located in the west of Lorraine, on the left bank of the Semois valley, consists of a slope overlooking the beautiful village of Chassepierre and bounded to the west by the N83 road. Exposed to the east, this grassy slope dotted with trees and bushes is mainly covered by a dry meadow with rich flora, whose importance is highlighted by the presence of several rare or indicator species such as Geneva bugle (Ajuga genevensis), winged broom (Genistella sagittalis), thyme broomrape (Orobanche alba), and purple broomrape (Orobanche purpurea), the latter two being parasitic plants threatened with extinction in the Walloon Region. The fauna remains unknown and has not yet been inventoried. The place seems particularly favorable for reptiles and for day-flying butterflies. A large part of the slope, about 1.4 ha, has been designated as a state nature reserve since 2014, under the official designation of "La Côte sous le point de vue de Chassepierre."
Public access: The main objective of the management plan is the restoration and then the establishment of a maintenance management of the species-rich dry meadow indicative of low-fertility soils.
Type: Site of Great Biological Interest (SGIB)
