The Leeuwenhof was created by extracting sand for road construction. Many birds come here to look for food and nest. Because the animals need rest, the Leeuwenhof became a nature reserve. Nature comes first here.
A footpath that leads to a viewpoint offers you the chance to enjoy the beautiful view over the pond and study the birds without disturbing them. The cormorant is a frequent guest here. Shore swallows, which prefer sandy walls for their nesting place, find a safe haven here. Every first Saturday of February and June, Natuurpunt gives a guided walk around the lake.
