In the nature reserve of the Vogelenzang valley you will often find this flower: celandine or wartweed. The latter appeals more to the imagination, and got the name because of the yellow juice. If you break off a twig, you will see that the celandine contains orange-yellow milk juice. The yellow juice was used against warts , to make a wart disappear, the juice of a fresh stem had to be smeared on it several times a day. A mixture drawn from the leaves was once seen as a probabilistic remedy for body hair. Alchemists used celandine in the search for the philosopher's stone. Witches did it in their ointments in the Middle Ages (see witchwort).
