You won't find any arable land on the alluvial soils of the river Mark, because those clay soils are too swampy for that, but there are plenty of hay and grasslands. The footpath here runs over those alluvial grounds and through the hay meadows. You will notice that with every step you take, the impact is quite hard. This is due to the compact, alluvial clay that is in the bodel here, deposited by the river Mark. The grazing lands are closed off with fences so that the hiker but not the cow can pass.
