Yellow iris is a common species along the banks of ditches, streams, rivers, canals and pools, as well as on wet hay meadows. The beautiful yellow flowers can be seen from May to July. These have a striking shape, with three outwardly curved and three erect petals. Pollination is mainly done by bumblebees and bees, where they have to crawl completely into the flower to get to the nectar.
