The capacity of the holding basin has been increased several times. Due to a recent extension of the flood zone to the right bank of the Demer, the Flemish Environment Agency was able to expand its capacity by 14.5 ha. From here we have a view of the siphon. This siphon, dating from 2014, connects the parts of the outer guard basin on both sides of the Demer. After all, these areas are separated by the Demer. Through this siphon, the water is literally led under the Demer to the Zwarte Beek via the 'exhaust artwork' K29 located further away.
