The tourist Leie between Deinze and the Ringvaart around Ghent and is almost exclusively sailed by recreational shipping traffic (pleasure boating). Due to the meandering course and the many idyllic places that have also inspired many artists, it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful waterways in Flanders. A motorized ferry connects Drongen-Baarle with Sint-Martens-Latem, for cyclists and walkers. In this way, the many cyclists and walkers can safely cross the Leie. The ferry 'Baarleveer' measures 7.5 m by 2.5 m and can transfer fourteen pedestrians or seven cyclists at the same time. The ferry is also wheelchair accessible. The Baarleveer is included in the cycle route of the junction network of Tourism East Flanders.
