Saint Peter and Paul Church = Leaning Tower of Schelle: It may not look as spectacular as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but as you approach Schelle from Hemiksem, the degree of tilt certainly sparks the imagination: the spire, 52.9m high, leans a staggering 1.15m out of plumb. How it came to be tilted remains a mystery. During construction, it was said to have tilted due to a gust of wind or subsided due to unstable ground. But various myths about this Leaning Tower also circulate.
