In the triangular market square of Nieuwkerke, stands the three-nave hall church, whose facade is made of old iron sandstone. In the shadow of the church stands a war memorial that commemorates the soldiers and civilian victims who fell in World War I and II. Another monument is the Geuzen statue, which symbolizes the tumultuous history of the village during the time of the Geuzen. Also, a modern kiosk adorns the market square.
