March 17, 1989, was the opening date of Den Ekster in Dranouter. In terms of symbolism, this counts! On St. Patrick's Day, the Irish national holiday, when Guinness and Irish folk blend into bacchanalian festivities spilling over the neighboring fields. Over the years, a lot of music has flowed from Den Ekster over the Dranouter hills. Not just Irish folk but all kinds of genres. Quality has always been the main criterion. That artistic passion and its unique location make Den Ekster a special place to linger. The menu is composed around regional dishes that perfectly pair with the selection of local beers and Trappists. Also check out the homemade Picon that you can try here in combination with beer. From the terrace, you can see for miles, and it's wonderful to daydream. Here, your thoughts become dreams, and you lose track of time. An ideal stopover on your way by bike or on foot through that typical Heuvelland nature.
