As late as the seventies, Mon Tuerlinckx and his wife Jacqueline grew tomatoes under glass. For reasons of health, they began to grow a little watercress in a small corner for their own use. They had heard that this was 'good' for many ailments. Home-grown soon became a lot: the overproduction was taken to the auction. The success did not stop there. The tomatoes have had to make way and today the 12,000m² greenhouse is full of watercress. The watercress is grown in small gutters, in running water. The control for the climate and humidity are computer-controlled and are constantly adjusted.
