In section B, to the left of the old cemetery, lie the victims of World War I. In the summer, poppies grow between the graves, the flower that sums up that war, thanks to the commendable initiative of a parish volunteer.
Besides soldiers, the war also strikes numerous civilians through bombings, among other things. A simple white crucifix adorns the grave of a six-year-old girl, Maria De Prest. Her grave might well epitomise the senseless violence that war entails.
