The Thief Dog Forest is one of the old beds that were created after the straightening of the Lys in 1885. That severed arm was filled with household waste for years. In 1979 the area was designated as forest and in 1983 the landfill was closed. Over the years, various tree-planting campaigns have been organized on the landfill, so that you can now find a play forest there. With the family quest 'De Leiedief' you will get to know the forest and the surrounding area better. The 3.9 km quest is available at Tourism Menen.
