Jef Planckaert was one of the best Belgian riders in the early 1960s. 1962 was his very best year. That year he came second in the Tour de France, he was Belgian champion and he won Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Paris-Nice race. Jef died in 2007. Two years later a statue of him was erected in his home village of Otegem. This statue isn't on the cyclenetwork. Use the button on the top right of your screen to go to the statue and return with your gps. After that you can continue your route. Photo: Collection WieMu Roeselare.
