Iron sandstone has been used as a building stone since the Middle Ages. Usually we know these in the region of prestigious places such as churches and keeps. Stones of considerable dimensions were used for this. These stones were not for the farmer. He had to content himself with the smaller stones that could often be found loose in the sunken roads or on the hilltops. These stones, on the other hand, are strong. Here you can see another rare example of a house whose walls were built in this stone. Larger stones were used for the wall chains and window frames.
