This shopping gallery is merely the central corridor of a gigantic office building – on the right and left you can see the office entrances among the shops. Climb the stairs around the circular widening at the end of the gallery. The architects Alexis and his cousin Philippe Dumont completed the entire project in 1954. They managed to accommodate a height difference of more than ten meters with this space. You are climbing the eastern flank of the Zenne Valley. The sky-blue mosaic tiles and the gilded aluminum spindles of the handrails reflect the optimism of progress from the Expo era: the future could only get better, thanks to technological advancement!
