'Mie Maan' is today a well-known tavern on the Diestsebaan in Herselt. In the 19th century, 'Het Plezanten Hof' was located on the other side of the track. Louis Jennes bought this in the early 20th century. He married Maria Wouters and they bought a place on the other side that was called 'Het Kruispunt'. The original building of 'Het Plezanten Hof' was demolished to turn it into a parking lot. The new 'Het Plezanten Hof' was built on the site of 'Het Kruispunt'. It was both an inn and a shop. Maria Wouters lived on the farm 'De Halve Maan' and when the farmers from the region brought their butter and eggs to 'Het Plezanten Hof', they went to 'Mie Maan'. The name 'Het Plezanten Hof' was only changed to 'Mie Maan' in the 1980s.
The name 'Het Plezanten Hof' is a 19th-century translation of the French 'jardin de plaisance'. This term was used by the nobility for their country estate in the countryside.
At the eatery there is a spacious public parking and a camper place.
Since 1 February 2015, the province of Antwerp has been using the buildings of Mie Maan, with the exception of the catering part of the building, in the context of the provincial policy on the Hertberg green domain and the rural project 'de Merode'.
