The beautiful garden neighborhood Diongre is one of the many garden neighborhood gems that you can still admire in the Brussels suburbs. The unique and simple bas-reliefs above each door are striking. But be sure to take a walk around here, as it is filled with charming architectural details. These have sprouted from the mind of the architect Diongre.
In 1922, architect Joseph Diongre was asked to draw up plans for around a hundred homes, including single-family homes and apartment buildings for multiple families. Within the triangle formed by Brugsestraat, Begijnenstraat, and Korenbeekstraat, Diongre proposed a plan in 1922 for 122 homes located around small streets. Sixty unique houses accommodate one or more families. The two to three-story apartment buildings consist of multiple apartments of different sizes.
