In 1695, the parish priest of Burg-Reuland, Mathias Breitfeld, had a chapel built at his own expense in honor of Our Lady of Luxembourg. It was not consecrated until 1704. The chapel originally belonged to the parish of Thommen, but in 1803, it became an annex church of Burg-Reuland. The building is constructed of picturesque stone. In 1865, the building, which had fallen into ruin, was rebuilt and some parts of the old building were salvaged. You can tell by the baroque entrance door with a red sandstone frame and the date of 1695. Above, there is a portal niche with a Pietà and the text “Maria consolatrix afflictorum ducatus Luxemburgensis patrona electa: January 20, 1678.” This also allows us to understand that Burg-Reuland used to be part of the Duchy of Luxembourg.
In 1934, the building was enlarged, and the round apse (choir) was added.
The beautiful interior shows us a sculpted altar dating from the 18th century. The old Madonna on a side altar comes from the nearby castle of Bracht. The statue is rightly the masterpiece of this church. The woodwork along the walls represents the baroque figures of Saint Francis and Saint Ignatius.
Next to the church and connected to it in a corner is the old presbytery.
Also noteworthy is the naive statue of Saint Hubert in the cemetery garden.
