The Vieux Chemin de Hal is the old connection from Nivelles to Halle. And that was built for the Nivellesesteenweg. This is located about 300m east of this historic route, in low-lying, soggy areas. And these were usually avoided in the Middle Ages with unpaved roads. This Chemin de Hal follows the higher parts, partly even the watershed ridge between the stream valleys.
