The flag of Saint Veroon regularly flies at this house, especially around Easter. The proud family tells me why. Every year, on Easter Monday, the St. Veroon walk and soldiers' procession passes through Lembeek and the surrounding municipalities. For more than seven hundred years, this procession has been going out on Easter Monday in honour of the patron saint of Lembeek, Saint Veron. This centuries-old St. Veroon's march is the only military procession in Flanders that can claim to have existed centuries old.
The parade passes through places in Flanders as well as in neighbouring Wallonia : from Lembeek it goes to Wallonia where the municipalities of Clabecq and Tubize are visited. In Clabecq there is a solemn entry into the village centre around noon and also in Tubize there is a stop in the parish church. From Tubize it goes in the direction of Hondgezocht (hamlet of Lembeek) on the border with the neighboring municipality of Saintes. Via the Chaussée d'Enghien, it goes back to the centre of Lembeek for the solemn entry of the procession and also briefly enters the territory of Halle .
There are several chapels dedicated to Saint Veroon along the way. In certain places, the different groups meet. The local residents along the route traditionally treat the participants to a drink and a drink. A detail not to be forgotten is that this procession stops at every chapel , where all pilgrims can get free gin, and sometimes also meatballs and Easter eggs.
Saint Veroon is venerated because he is said to have driven away the plague in the region.
